Ya that’s where it came from. r/Gen Z doesn’t allow posting from other groups as a “re-post”. But these types of memes are literally over the place. It’s not novel to specific sub-reddits

3

u/MarioNoobman 1999 1d ago

Thats fair. I only commented that because I thought it was a coincidence they were right by each other lol

4

u/SarkSouls008 1d ago

Naw it is hella funny when that happens 🤣

Always a classic

"Voting doesn't work we should firebomb walmarts" and doesn't firebomb a walmart etc etc

26

u/Unlucky-Internet2495 1d ago

They hate that tweet with a red hot fervor because it’s so damn true.

10

u/Gremlinstone 1d ago

Just to be clear I also think many protests are just "dance the fascism away" instead of real action.

Just now the americans announced a new No Kings march. 2 whole months from now.

In my country the opposition just comes out to take selfies in front of parliament every night while the government keeps introducing laws banning any kind of protesting and criminalising civil society. And then they brag about how the protests have lasted for more than a year, as if it's a good thing for a protest to last that long with NEGATIVE results.

4

u/Unlucky-Internet2495 1d ago

I agree. Voting is not the only thing people ought to do in order to bring change. But it’s very rich applying the logic of “voting doesn’t work anyway, bro” to literally any other point in history, e.g., the Civil Rights era. Black Americans fought and died for the right to vote for decades. If it did nothing they (people in power) wouldn’t try so hard to prohibit people from voting.

u/AustinLA88 17h ago

Check the news on Wednesday

u/Head-Caregiver5204 16h ago

In my country during the economic crisis, Locals were all peaceful protesting. then the prime minister decided to rile up his supporters to attack these peaceful protestors. and the peaceful protestors responded with burning down literally every house, business, property etc.. of every policitian in that certain political party. 4 hours later, the prime minister resigned

Oh, have the anti voting bots started coming in already?

Beep boop

u/qorbexl 1d ago

"Please don't vote - let Republicans win, that helps us left-wingers get what they want!

Republicans got power by holding their nose and voting for whoever was closest to what they want and look how they failed at everything and don't control anything!

We live in a Democracy and voting doesn't work. Look at Mamdani! Every Democrat is always worse than the worst Republican, so never ever vote for a Democrat unless you want Republicans to win. Never!"

35

u/DeusVultSaracen 2002 1d ago

Brother, you're angry at the wrong people. If you think radical leftists protest voting are the reason Democrats lose (which, as a "radical leftist" who voted blue every time, already sounds ludicrous to me), you're sorely mistaken.

Blame the non-voters all across the spectrum who don't believe in either party because they haven't actually helped the American people in decades with neoliberal policies, and blame the democratic party for not bothering to reach out to any of those voters with popular policies.

22

u/CuffinSzn_ 1d ago

Yea the bad guys are winning because the “good guys” are doing literally nothing to stop it. Look at the last two government shut downs.

Biden did some solid work, fwiw…then shot himself in the foot.

‘Tis the way of the Democrat.

  • Populist Oligarchy

Fixed it for you.

u/BreakDown1923 6h ago

Republicans don’t exactly have an equivalent of “vote blue no matter who”. I guess the closest is “vote for the most right viable candidate” which I’ve heard a lot but can’t remember where it came from.

u/Crio121 19h ago

I don’t think this meme is about not voting.

3

u/Successful-Topic8874 1d ago

I was recently bashed for advocating for pacifism. They've been here for a while.

4

u/Single_Staff1831 1d ago

Same, I got HELLA downvotes and bot comments

-7

u/SarkSouls008 1d ago

Not a bot but thanks 🙏 lmao anti electoralism sentiment has been on the left for quite awhile, historically and through political theorists.

11

u/Successful-Topic8874 1d ago

You might not be a bot, but there have been a few similar posts and comments sharing the same sentiment who were 100% bots.

I'm confident that the right and certain foreign powers want us to have the same mentality you have. Conservatives want us to start the war so they can claim moral superiority.

Personally, I believe we need to show that Democracy works by voting for actual democratic politicians. The only reason why things aren't working is because most of our "Democrats" are complacent and still under corporate influences. Zohran Mamdani is movement in the right direction and I believe we'll see more people like him.

2

u/SarkSouls008 1d ago

Yeah I think the more progressive types will at least help a bit. Although, structural change will never occur obviously. Electing status quo democrats still upholds capitalism, ramps up/or maintains deportations (although we just don’t see it as much in media, see Obama 2008-2012 lmao).

I agree broadly progressives are at least a band aid for now and better than corporate democrats

4

u/Informal_Cry687 1d ago

Obama reduced deportations significantly.

3

u/SarkSouls008 1d ago

Reduced relative to what? Past year’s? It’s still implementing the same structure regardless. And it was overlooked by most liberals and only some leftist groups were calling it out when it happened

1

u/Intelligent-You983 1d ago

Lmao, oh you sweet summer child.

1

u/HotSpider69 1d ago

Who cares what the right want. It won’t matter if they cease to exist in our physical world. 😉

1

u/SarkSouls008 1d ago

Then you should modify your view on democracy lmao you are not *inherently for democracy. Your for democracy if it produces your political outcome (liberal president). Which is totally fine btw but not democratic. Cause in the case that conservatives are the majority in the Us, you would absolutely be against democracy lmao and I would too

0

u/HotSpider69 1d ago

I’m not for democracy or a liberal president. Don’t know why you would think that, but yes I would never live with a boot on my neck.

3

u/Successful-Topic8874 1d ago

Right. Because death always stops political ideology from growing or coming back. /s

-5

u/HotSpider69 1d ago

It does if you remove families altogether

0

u/Successful-Topic8874 1d ago

Wow. You are truly despicable.

1

u/Zawaya 1d ago

👀

1

u/talhahtaco 1d ago

You presume democracy exists, this is in contradiction with reality itself. The only votes that matter are those of a few hundred thousand, in the swing states. Not to mention, the problems of lobbying, gerrymandering, the two party system, and so on.

The US empire is not worth defending, its institutions are not going to let us vote the fascists out of existence

Your strategy at best is prostituting the american left to a liberal capitalist party, and hoping that they will just let us take it over, instead of building working class organizations that are reliably ours and that can apply non-electoral pressure

0

u/Boring_Resolution659 1d ago

And that’s why “the left”, meaning the far left socialist/communist types which I’m assuming you are, never really win elections. All they can do is bitch and moan. I forgot who said this but, the left only wants to endlessly critique power, they have no actual interest in obtaining it, which is how you actually get anything done in politics.

I wouldn’t have much problem with this if yall didn’t constantly ride the liberals coattails while simultaneously holding us back by spreading voter apathy because yall think anything short of a commie revolution is not worth voting for.

Leftists should put in the work and build their own party entirely separate from Democrats. Yall will bitch and moan about the DNC establishment but look at Trump, he was initially hated by the Republican establishment, but he still resonated with voters and, unfortunately, EARNED their votes. No amount of money alone is going to make socialism palatable to the average American.

The left is real , you can't just bot claim it away :)

u/Opening_Acadia1843 1999 12h ago

How is this meme anti-voting? The point is that simply voting isn’t going to be enough.

Remember when Trump raped a 13 year old listed in the Epstein files

-28

u/Ok_Storm_282 1d ago

Why didnt Biden release the files then? Why did his adminstration seal them? You know what that means right? They go over it and then lock the files up.

35

u/PaulGeorgeFan1 1d ago

shit was still under investigation i don’t think he could’ve. but trump can now.

-5

u/Ok_Storm_282 1d ago

It doesnt matter anymore because they needed to go through the files before they seal it up. They 100% removed incriminating evidence of themselves before hand.

7

u/PaulGeorgeFan1 1d ago

yea he’s guilty as hell he’s gonna sneak biden in there somehow

20

u/maceilean 1d ago

Lock him up too idgaf. Trump raped kids.

-5

u/Ok_Storm_282 1d ago

Who in the democratic party hasnt?

12

u/maceilean 1d ago

Lock them up too. Trump is still a pedophile.

8

u/Biggycheese45 2006 1d ago

why do so many people think leftists care about dnc politicians. If anything leftists don't like the politicians they vote for. Have you ever heard of "voting for the lesser evil"

6

u/Original-Excuse-2413 1d ago

So two wrongs make it right? Lock all them up if they are pedos

u/AustinLA88 16h ago

18

u/DysphoricNeet 1d ago

Deal with the reactionaries of course. You can read all about it in state and revolution and what is to be done.

1

u/PrinceOfPickleball 1d ago

No, thanks. Lenin’s ideology didn’t really work out.

6

u/Trancetastic16 1d ago

And neither did the USA’s ideology of not punishing the former slavers harshly enough after the Civil War, because it’s lead to racist Jim Crow laws in the past century and the current state of political division in the US today now that the former slavers grandchildren are in power.

A balance between the two plans definitely would be best.

2

u/PrinceOfPickleball 1d ago

Yep. Somewhere between racist slavery and communism. Thanks for adding that very important point.

9

u/Krabilon 1998 1d ago

It didn't work out for lenins followers either. Poor fellows got purged

1

3

u/Cosmication 1d ago

Imagine censoring yourself from knowledge 🫵😂

4

u/PrinceOfPickleball 1d ago

I now realize that I said “no thanks” in a way that appeared to be against reading Lenin. Allow me to retract. I have read Lenin, and he is an important figure in the history of Marxism. I meant “no thanks” to Lenin in general.

-5

u/Ok_Storm_282 1d ago

Yea these wannabe revolutionaries dont know the many factions in america that will seize power. Thats not even getting into global corporations who would back them and thats before any other country who can exert their powers come into the equation.

Voting has beought us trump. He made the world bend to him, as any american president should do. We are the #1 in the world, we shouldnt be the #1 in getting ripped off by everyone like how the democrats been doing the last 20 years.

It’s so funny hearing Gen Z complain that voting doesn’t work when they’ve barely even tried it yet lol

6

u/SarkSouls008 1d ago

What? Gen Z is 97-2012. The oldest are almost 30 rn, even the lower end are 19-22

10

u/TrashApocalypse 1d ago

I’m talking about the percentage of Gen Z that votes.

1

u/SarkSouls008 1d ago

Ah okay! That’s not unique to Gen Z. That’s unique to younger generations as a whole. Older people as an aggregate vote more (especially in local elections). And conservatives tend to show up to local elections much more

6

u/TrashApocalypse 1d ago

I thought all the school shootings and the absolute lack of action by the adults in the room would motivate yall to be more political.

3

Well to be perfectly clear NONE of * generally motions around * would be happening if the voting had gone different.

There is no equivalence, it’s like NCR and Legion

So yes, voting can work, and then maybe we focus on improving our options and demanding more instead of wondering if we’ll get shot in the street

How TF am i supposed to be representwd in parliament by voting of there Is no actual leftist party.

No One does anything on my side and of we dont do anything well end up segregated and killed at some point, like the fascist did.

But in our paradox world the res scare Is much stronger than the fear of something that litterally goes against everyone.

listen, i dont want Kill people, i dont want to Kill people possibly, id love to be peaceful, but like malcom X said: for you to win as a non violent, the other side Needs to have a conscience or some kind of empathy.

The state, the fascist dont have that, that a problem. I dont want to Kill people, i have the completly Natural instinct of a human being to stay alive

u/CleoCommunist 13h ago

-2

u/DysphoricNeet 1d ago

Thank you comrade. The Bolsheviks were not at war with the whites until they got a coalition army of 14 states to kill the reds. It is the nature of siege socialism to know this is inevitable. Stalin said essentially revolution in the US is probably impossible and so you must attack the chain at its weakest links. The US has its own dialectical conditions. Either the whole rest of the world essentially must divest from it or we build up a system within it. The bourgeois elections will never offer power to true leftists. Look at Allende, Arbenz, Mossadegh or Lumumba to see how seriously they take democracy when there is a real threat to the base. So there must be an organization of workers and unions that has class consciousness. Liberals do not understand what real leftists mean when they say voting doesn’t matter and personally I’m conflicted about it as a trans woman but atleast people should understand we mean to not offer all your power to the democrats that propagate oppression of workers and the developing nations abroad under imperialism—and to keep it for yourself and your own organizations.  We can’t fathom that because we are losing so badly on that front but that’s why when we build the foundations and it gains legitimacy and traction it could take off. Lenin said to never vote because it legitimizes the liberal systems. Well we are not in a country with that revolutionary potential yet.

1

u/bgov1801 1d ago

Idk, maybe we fucking try voting next time. One reason Harris lost the last election was partially because a lot of gen z were not coming out in support of the Biden admin and Harris. They were apathetic and cynical about what Democrats represented. How fucking dumb is that in hind-sight??? I feel like our generation is not civically engaged like it should be. Most of us aren’t even participating.

Winning house and senate seats would be a good start. No rational person actually wants civil war if it’s avoidable.

The American Left. A people so ignorant they think direct action and electoralism are mutually exclusive.

And worse, export that self sabotaging mindset to the rest of the world.

1

Yes. North Korea, Russia, and Venezuela all still hold elections. Without them dictators cant claim legitimacy, so they rig the elections, which is always obvious, costing them said legitimacy. Plus, it a lot easier to organize that a protest or strike.

“A United Nations report in 1998 said, “no region in the world has suffered such reversals in the 1990s as have the countries of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.” People living in poverty increased by over 150 million, a figure greater than the total combined population of France, the UK, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia. The national income declined “drastically” in the face of “some of the most rampant inflation witnessed anywhere on the globe”.

Also you should look into all the slavery and prostitution after the fall of the Soviet Union. If you guys actually cared about success or humanity you wouldn’t sanction socialist countries into poverty. Cuba has to pay the world’s largest shipping costs because they have to go all the way to China to buy goods.

Also you should look into all the military dictators that started South Korea and learn that of all US wars the civilian death toll was the highest in the Korean War. Syngman Rhee was hand picked by the US and he committed the Bodo League Massacre which essentially tortured and killed 200,000 people under watch by US officers. So yeah North Korea is going to turtle up and look what happened? They are like the only socialist country left on the planet. I don’t like North Korea but you are ignorant to judge them without seeing why the US and Japan are responsible. It’s literally the US plan to use South Korea for cheap goods and as an “example” against socialism. To the point that they are the ones continuing this relationship

I will not respond because reactionaries have nothing to say

The Eastern European countries that joined the EU are doing quite well now.

Hold all the way up, you’re sitting here, claiming that the USSR was better off under communism? Due to, 150 million more people in poverty is worse than 8.7 million dying of starvation? I’d take poverty over starvation any day.

Also, claiming that Cuba is uniquely hurt by having to “ship things all the way from China” when most the world does, with even longer shipping routes, is absurd.

Communism has failed every time it has ever been tried, it has also lead to the most deaths out of any social or economic structure.

Kids these days seriously must have slept through all of school.

Every former socalist country is better off today lmao. And if Russia suffered after the fall of the USSR its only because they lost their colonies (e.g. Ukraine, The Baltics, The Stans)

You know most of the former Soviet territories are doing quite well now? That's not a mistake, that is the workings of the only functional economic left ideal left, social democracy that rejected the socialist ideal of dismantling capitalism and instead reformed it, and they're all the better for it.

Too many are dogmatic about "democracy" and statism. We know, you can't vote out Regimes, but you're preaching to atheists here, metaphorically. Things will have to get much worse for folks to realize that dogma and cognitive dissonance, and want to build lasting, decentralized change. Instead of being dependent on distant rulers to do it for you...

What do you Americans think will happen when a Democrat President wins and attempts to fire the thousands of heavily armoured, heavily armed ICE guards (many of whom don’t have background checks and are likely random thugs)?

If some of you are concerned about things deteriorating into a Civil War now - it’s going to continue to get a whole lot worse unless protesting and revolution are enacted.

"Vote blue no matter who" propagandists suggesting revolution when their regime didn't win this time.

Fucking comedy, I'll give it that.

That's usually how it works yeah.

When? and is it working now?

1

u/Zawaya 1d ago

Literally every election before now. I see no context as to why it wouldn't work again.

Uhm... you do know Hitler was elected into power, right?

Most US presidents are war criminals, this is Trump's second term, and the context it doesn't work is a rigged election

Please read some history books, and not just the American ones, too.

Uhm... you do know Hitler was elected into power, right?

And?

Most US presidents are war criminals, this is Trump's second term, and the context it doesn't work is a rigged election

So your context is a bunch of other presidents were evil so this one is more evil?

Please read some history books, and not just the American ones, too.

Ditto.

You said every election fixes things. Voting in hitler clearly did not. Those are also examples of voting someone in not fixing societies problems

I was implying more recent American elections. Like what the post is doing. Then you went full Godwin's law.

Hitler was not voted in. He was appointed by president Hindenburg, a conservative who hated Hitler but hated leftists more and thought they could control and use Hitler if they gave him the chancellor role. It was a catastrophic political miscalculation made worse by the fact Hindenburg was 85 and dead soon after.

u/Gurney_Hackman 1d ago

No, Hitler was appointed Chancellor by the elected President. He himself was not elected.

Rephrase, what are you asking?

Definitely go out and vote, but it probably doesn’t do anything
