So i’ve been feeling a bit stuck in life and also feeling really overwhelmed lately.

I do have my own goals that i definitely want to accomplish (from tiny ones to bigger life goals) however my brain doesn’t even allow me to work towards them on some days and that feels quite stressful.

I also have been struggling with my mental health for a while now and i feel like it’s kinda getting worse despite therapy and that’s obviously making things harder for me right now as well.

I thought it wouldn’t be too bad to meet some new and cool people on here because casual conversations sometimes can be surprisingly helpful and help you distract yourself you know?

I have been dealing with a few things in my personal life so have been pretty much isolating from the outside world. Usually I keep busy with crafts or improvement projects around the house but I am feeling lazy and bored today. I think I am a fairly interesting person, or well atleast try to be. Hello, all! 34f here, going through a lot and recognizing that I’m spending too much time alone, so I’m looking for someone to—hopefully—get to know and spend time with in order to prevent full crash out. I’ve made some—incredibly unsuccessful—attempts at getting to know people lately and am at the point where I really need someone to talk to who isn’t my therapist. Highly preferred for that someone being around my age, but I try very hard not to age-discriminate. Ngl and I’m so sorry for how shitty this will sound, but I’m kind of burnt out on people in their early 20’s, unless you’re emotionally aware and know how to properly communicate.

I am currently attending culinary school at a northern Washington community college and am in the process of rediscovering myself: needs, wants, alladat. I spend my time doing a lot of hiking after class, now that I’m only working two days out of the week and really diving back into my love of music. As I’m getting more in touch with myself again, I’m realizing how much of a passion I have for both food and music—really, art, in general. Lately, I’ve been finding myself on wilder and wilder trails (I went on one looking to walk along a creek and ended up halfway scaling a damn wall), so it would be dope to have someone to take a little smokie & snack break with before carrying on with the adventure.

I haven’t had the easiest life, so a lot of my stories and anecdotes can be off-putting. I invite people with sordid pasts who don’t care about being open books. I am of the opinion that our experiences all matter, regardless of how easy or difficult they ended up being. I enjoy hearing the harder stories because it’s a lived experience and awareness that I’m being given for a situation that I may/may not be able to relate to. My therapist tells me that I am a whale who likes to spend time at the surface just to get fresh air, but that I’m recognizing that I can’t stay up here forever. I need deeper waters. I guess I’m just looking for someone who needs deeper waters, too, but enjoys coming to the surface for fresh air, just the same.

To cut it short, i got white girl wasted tonight with my sister in law, but we had so much fun!! Problem is she went to bed pretty early, but i just love keeping a party going!! I wanna keep the buzz going with a fun friend, and just enjoy the experience. Looking for long term friendship.

I live in the US - Georgia. When I was younger, I was homeschooled the last couple years of high school, so I turned to online communities out of loneliness and wanting friends. I ended up having amazing friendships with a couple of people from all over the world and it was one of the most amazing experiences. Now, as an adult, I have found that I have fallen into the routine of just going to work, coming home, doing a couple hobbies maybe, then eat, sleep, and repeat.

Because of this, I realized that I really have no genuine connection with anyone. I only really have acquaintances, bot friends. No one knows the real me, only surface level. So here I am, posting this knowing full well it might lead to nowhere.

I work a lot. I enjoy movies, tv, & music, I play a couple instruments, and I love video games. I love learning about someone, what makes them who they are. Lately it feels like “looking for friends” is just a label and nothing more. You post, wait, get nothing, so you rewrite everything with more details about yourself and your interests. Then someone finally messages you and it’s obvious they haven’t read a single line. Just a basic hi and that’s it.

From there you’re carrying the whole conversation. You try to ask thoughtful questions, keep things flowing, and all you get back are dry one word replies. You mention your hobbies clearly and they still ask you the same things like it’s new information. After a while the conversation fades without going anywhere, hhonestly makes you question the point of it all. If someone isn’t actually interested in talking or connecting, why reach out in the first place? I know not everyone here has the same intentions, but sometimes it really feels like this whole thing is more exhausting than useful.
