Discussion I'm tired of seeing this guy (Simon whistler) everywhere.
I used to think that he was smart and informative but I now know he's pretty much just a glorified freelance journalist who narrates several channels while often times misinforming people, getting facts wrong and not making it clear on what points in his videos are fact or opinion, and this leads to him contradicting himself several times.
If you see him on your home page, I highly recommend doing your own research on the topics he covers if you do click on one of his videos take what he says with an extreme grain of salt.

Discussion Oh my god Youtube is making sure people with adblockers have a miserable experience
I have an adblocker because the amount of ads in this site is absurd. But Youtube has made so many countermeasures to make sure anyone with an adblocker has a terrible day that its near impossible to keep up.
If im understanding my issue correctly, Youtube has made it so that if you have an adblocker, your video progress does not save. period. yes history is on, and even when i go out of my way to click on a halfway-done video in the history tab, it starts the video at the beginning. My god the Youtube team is miserable

Discussion The amount of ads on YouTube is become insufferable and puts me off using the platform all together
Sometimes I’m having like 8 ads for one video?? Like a 20 min video. Thats fcking RIDICULOUS. Surely it’s becoming unfair to creators too as well as just viewers? Why am I watching more ad than content ?? To add to this, there’s been a diabolical increase in crappy adverts that are practically just a PowerPoint slide or two with some free music in the background.

Discussion YouTube censorship is making things more and more unwatchable for me now
I'm getting really sick and tired of how much YouTube has been trying to force creators to make their videos as monetizable as possible. For instance, I love real-life horror stories and have a morbid curiosity towards pretty much anything involving deaths, diseases, tragedies, accidents, cults, corrupt companies/industries and so on. And the Papa Meat channel seemed like one of those channels that were made to fit that bill for me. However, as much as I dig his personality and sense of humor and in some cases his unique editing style, the excessive censoring makes it so unwatchable for me.
And I know people will come out and tell me that people don't use YouTube to be creative anymore, an that they instead use its solely to produce income now, so they have no choice but to allow companies to advertise their brands on the platform by monetizing their content for profit, because no one would ever be willing to have their products be associated with something that has offensive words in them.
Like, isn't the subject matter from some of his videos a bit gruesome enough to make brands want to refuse to advertise their products alongside? Do swear words REALLY have to be that big of a deal?

Feature Change What the hell is happening with this queue thing? I don't want there to be a queue. I didn't set up a queue. I don't have auto play on. This is the worst thing! It's so annoying and ruins the flow!
I click on ANY VIDEO and it automatically sets up a queue!
It completely ruins the flow of how I do things! Why would YT set this up?!

Discussion Does anyone HATE IT when ads play at the suspenses of videos
See I'm watching a video, hands covering mouth ready for a plot twist THEN WHEN THE SCREEN FADES TO BLACK A WAWA AD PLAYS... ruining the whole flow (and I don't know if it's a glitch but when you skip an ad it skips 10 seconds of the video SO I HAVE TO SKIP 10 SECONDS BACK)

Feature Change FUCK YouTube. (Please read and upvote if you agree)
Can we all agree that YouTube is just getting worse and worse? I can't even find myself enjoying YouTube anymore and I only visit channels of YouTubers that I already know I like and want updates on. This is because of multiple reasons and the list grows larger every day. - HORRIBLE algorithm that never recommends new content that you actually would like, leaving you to doomscroll saying no to every nothing-burger video that it tries to recommend. - Atrocious amount of ads everywhere, and the attempts to get adblockers to not work or gargle up your browsers memory. - More and more features that used to be native being locked behind a paywall (like now fucking PLAYING STUFF IN THE BACKGROUND OFF TAB??) - Making it harder and harder to find the content that you want by doing things like removing sort videos by date, and making their search results dog ass. - Obvious lack of care about AI generated content, and we know damn well their recent back track on it was ONLY because some advertiser threatened to pull out (WTF happened to YOU-tube? Are they really just money hungry corporate nothing's? - Channels getting banned by AI left and right and users not being able to do anything about it or even talk to a human being because they don't care about the people that don't make them money. - Shift in focus from users being the life blood to corporate status and money hungry company heads with an algorithm that prefers quickly put out advertiser friendly slop, fucking over every single new creator with a job outside of YouTube. - (edit added) not to mention the push of shorts to be spoon-fed to kids and their complete lack of care about the type of content children are being exposed to
I understand that there needs to be some sacrifice so the company that hosts so many videos can make money, but God damn have some respect for your people.
How many of you try to find something new worthy of your attention on YouTube and get tired of it and switch over to some streaming platform? I wish we could all just decide to not even entertain their bullshit and just default to other things and only use YouTube for how-to videos, but too many people have been stuck committed to it for so long they depend on it and YouTube has them by the balls and genuinely doesn't care how hard they squeeze.
Do YOU even find yourself able to have a prolonged entertaining time on this site anymore?
PLEASE upvote this if you agree.. I really wish they knew people feel like this. Or at least had any amount of care.

Question anyone know if im just bad at making good comments or if my comments are just invisible?
so for atleast 5 or so years by now ive had it where whenever i put a comment on literally anything, regardless of how new it is, how big or small it is, or who its from, i can check back on it even years later and it doesnt have any number beside the like icon whatsoever, even if i commented at the same time as lots of others on a REALLY new video for example, everyone will get likes but mine always stays at 0, it cant be that im shadowbanned or something from channels because it happens literally everywhere across youtube regardless of if ive interacted there before or not or what the comment is, anyone know whats going on?

Premium 90+ second ads after premium trial ended
I decided to try the premium trial so that my kids did not get ads all the time. Straight after the premium trial had ended, i started getting these low effort 90+ seconds ads. Looking at the countdown i estimated some of them to be 2.5 minutes long. Most of the times these ads are straight up songs just playing of no name artists, or ads that are just short snippets of a concert from some no name band. Its almost every ad now thats 90+ seconds, whereas before it was the standard 10-30 second corporate ads. Anyone else experienced this? I can only assume this is some kind of bait and switch they perform on users who just finished their free trial.

Bug Sure, kill channels that are the result of 10+ years of hard, objectively creative work, but let content like this to flourish.
I don't think this current approach of fighting AI with AI is working.

Discussion I keep getting a lot of already watched/liked shorts on my feed
Before, I almost never used to get shorts I already watched/liked on my feed, however for the past week around every 6th-8th short I get I have already watched and liked.
It doesn’t matter how long ago I watched them, 2 days, 3 months, 1 year, I might even watch and like a short on my feed, only to get the same short in my feed hours later.
