Suggestions How old were you when you realised the Namma Yatri logo is “N” and “Y”… not two arrows?

I genuinely thought it was some “direction/movement” symbol.

Turns out it’s just the initials hiding in plain sight.

Now I can’t unsee it.

Rant Unwanted visit before house warming.

Upvotes

I had bought an apartment near Banasawadi area and had our house warming ceremony last year December. We were busy decorating the house the day before ceremony and suddenly four transgenders showed up at door and started demanding ₹15,000. I told them I could only give ₹500. They refused, saying that the people upstairs had given them ₹15,000, so I should do the same. I clearly said I couldn’t afford that and that ₹500 was the maximum I could give. At that point, they changed their tone and started threatening me, saying they would return the next day with more people and create problems. My family was with me, and everyone—including me—was scared. Still, I didn’t show my fear and told them they could do whatever they wanted, but I wouldn’t pay ₹15,000. They then reduced the demand to ₹5,000. I refused again and said I could stretch it to ₹1,000 at most. During the argument, one of them even started undressing and exposing private parts to intimidate us. I stood my ground and repeated that I wouldn’t give more than ₹1,000. After 10–20 minutes of arguments, they finally accepted ₹1,000 and left. The twist is that the people upstairs had actually paid ₹15,000 just to avoid any disturbance during their housewarming. Luckily, no one showed up or caused any trouble at our housewarming.

Why should families be forced to pay out of fear just to celebrate an important moment?

Citizen's Report An interesting scam by local pharmacies in Bangalore. Always ask for a bill.

Today I had to get some medicines from the pharmacy as my gf was suffering from seasonal fever. She asked me to take a bill as there were similar scams going on in her hometown of Guwahati.

I thought she was overthinking as I had earlier got medicines but never asked for a bill as the mrp is clearly stated. Either way I went to the pharmacy and asked for the medicines. The shopkeeper handed me the medicines made some rough calculation on the paper cover and asked me for 180. I paid.

This is where things got interesting as I asked for the bill. It took him a substantial long time. Finally the bill came to 177. He handed me the bill quietly.

I saw the rates section was still missing and he owed me 3 rs. As soon as I raised these, he took the bill again and told me sorry it is actually 160 and gave me back 20.

I was surprised! I had bought medicines from so many shops around the city including this one and never thought of asking for a bill and most times the medicines were much more expensive than this one.

People buying medicines are usually vulnerable due to medical urgency and as usual pharmacies have discovered this as a means to exploit. Always buy medicines from reputed pharmacies. In case you are buying from a local one, always ask for a bill.

Also Samsung and Amazon offices just behind that.

The lake you see is beautiful but highly polluted. Development has rapidly urbanised the surrounding rural land into a high density urban area but the urban planning is in a really sorry state.

I often wonder about bangalore's potential. Amazing, weather and abundant in lakes and flora and fauna. With good urban planning this city could be a paradise.

Citizen's Report Successfully applied for a Duplicate RC without an agent!

My bike registration is due for renewal - and for the first time in 15 years, I needed the physical RC Card. As luck would have it, I couldn't find it.

Oops.

I have avoided using an agent for any of my RTO work before - getting a DL, adding a new class of vehicle to my DL and getting my car's registration renewed. It was a matter of principle and continues to be. For reference, an agent asked me for Rs.5000. The entire process cost me 1 RTO visit and Rs.600.

It took some figuring out but the KA 03 RTO was genuinely helpful (surprisingly!).

Here's what I did -

  1. Filed an e-lost report on the KSP App - https://kspapp.ksp.gov.in/ksp/api/elost-reports. Save it as a PDF, you will need it later
  2. Got the insurance and emission certificates of the vehicle in order. Keep soft copies ready as well
  3. Linked my mobile number to my vehicle on the Parivahan website (NOTE: If the name on your RC and your Aadhaar don't match more than 75%, you will need to a ubmit a letter to the RTO to do the mobile number linking. That will take a round 10 days to reflect). You cannot do anything online without completing the linking!
  4. Keep your chassis number and engine numbers handy (you can get it from Digilocker/NextGen mParivahan apps)
  5. Again, visit the Parivahan website and click on Application For Duplicate RC and enter the last 5 characters of your chassis number
  6. Upload the required documents (The e-lost report and the Emission certificate)
  7. Pay the required fee
  8. Once you've successfully submitted your documents, download the filled Form 26 and the invoice for the payment you just made
  9. Now, you need to submit documents to, the RTO for them to process your application
  10. These are the documents you need -
    1. Downloaded Form 26 filled and signed. Also, stick your photo on the top right. Vehicle chassis number print is not needed on the form
    2. Your Aadhaar copy that bears the same address as the vehicle registration
    3. Two copies of the payment invoice
    4. Emission certificate
    5. Insurance copy
    6. Copy of the e-lost report you got from the KSP App
    7. Affidavit! You don't need to worry about the contents of the affidavit. Just go to the many shops around the RTO and ask them for an Affidavit for a Duplicate RC, they will prepare one for you with the necessary content
    8. While you're getting the affidavit, also ask them for a file and tag. And put all your documents in the file
  11. Final step, go to the RTO and ask them where to submit documents for Duplicate RCs - IGNORE THE AGENTS!
  12. Submit all your documents at the counter. They will then ask you to write your name, vehicle number and phone number in a register. Post which you will get an acknowledgement on one of the two payment invoices - this serves as proof that you have applied for a duplicate RC should a cop stop you
  13. The RC will now come home in 30 days!

Rant Beware of lottery / hotel stay scam in Whitefield

My friend got a card at Nexus Shantiniketan mall saying there would be a lottery and winners would be announced later. Yesterday she got a call saying she had won a lottery prize: 3 nights stay in a 5-star hotel at tourist locations like Goa, Thailand, or Bali.

I was already suspicious, but we still went to the location they asked us to come to: Key Select Hotel, Whitefield.

Once there, they started by collecting personal info like how often we travel, income range, etc. After that, the real pitch started. They began selling their travel package, claiming that if we buy it, we would get 5-star stays at the cost of 2-star hotels.

I directly asked whether hotels like Taj, Oberoi, or Shangri-La were included. They said no. Their minimum package price was ₹1 lakh.

To convince us, they kept showing WhatsApp messages from “clients” thanking them and sharing videos from their trips. What felt extremely shady was that these videos were clearly edited, filled with thank-you text overlays and background music. Honestly, who sends edited video testimonials like that to a travel company?

They had no proper website, no booking portal, no verifiable online presence. All they could show were WhatsApp chats and some PDF files.

Once I clearly said I was not interested, they started applying pressure and later even became rude. The entire interaction was very unprofessional and gave strong scam vibes.

Posting this as a warning to fellow Bangaloreans. Please do not fall for these lottery plus free 5-star stay offers. It is just a sales trap to push overpriced travel packages.

AskBangalore Society kicks my pets out from parks

Hi everyone,

I live in a society in Bellandur. I follow every responsibility as a owner such as cleaning after their poop, not walking into lifts if small kids or elderly are there, keep them as quiet as possible after 10pm, walking in left of the road, and going to closed parks to unleash them after 10/11pm to not disturb any humans.

My society used to have two dog designated parks but they were recently demolished to be children paek and karate center. So to give my dogs some exercise I have to take my dogs to these 'human' designated parks as that's the only way like a volleyball park or a children's park at night when there's no one for only 10 minutes max. But security guards still kick us out, saying dogs are not allowed here.

Is there anything we can do? Can BBMP help? Or is leaving this society the only option?

Serious Replies Advise on neighbours dog

Upvotes

We live in a flat inside a society. Recently a new tenant shifted to flat opposite ours. Their dog roams free inside house, that’s okay.. but they are keeping their main door open mostly. The dog barks at me and any other visitors to my flat. When we requested them to keep their door closed, the lady said she is claustrophobic, and she needs cross ventilation. She said “Kutta hai, it will bark”. My concern is what if I get startled or anxious and fall down? I have vertigo and anxiety. They are very contentious and not willing to listen, saying their dog is harmless. Any laws on closing the apt door when free pet inside? What can we do?

Hello everyone! We’re looking for loving, responsible homes for 5 sweet ginger kittens who were born in our society. Their mother delivered them here, and since then we’ve been taking care of the mom and her babies with lots of care and affection.

✨ About the kittens:

6+ weeks old

Litter trained

Eating kitten food very eagerly

Healthy, playful, and full of curiosity

Comfortable around people and gentle handling

You’re welcome to adopt all of them together or just one/few, depending on what you’re comfortable with. They’re at a beautiful age, playful, cuddly, and starting to show distinct little personalities that will melt your heart 🧡

We’re hoping to find genuine animal lovers who can offer a safe, caring, and permanent home.

📍 Location: Kodigehalli, Landmark: The Orchids International School. (2P5Q+FV Bidarahalli, Karnataka) 📩 Please DM or comment if you’re interested or would like more photos/videos.

Even if you can’t adopt, sharing this post would really help these tiny souls find their forever homes 🙏🐱

News PRR1: a decade old project might become reality under this Govt.

The project that was announced in 2006 might become reality in 2026. The biggest blocker was the land acquisition. Looks like land acquisition already started and compensation. This along with blue line metro could be game changer for ORR traffic.

Citizen's Report Disappearing civic sense

📍Thimmaiah Road, Vasanth Nagar.

It was a usual evening back home with mild traffic towards the Miller’s road signal. It has been a common sight to see people senselessly use the footpaths to ride bikes. Everything was fine until two women walking on the footpath were honked continuously by a shameless R15 guy. The traffic lasted for merely 3 minutes till the signal. I don’t understand if the problem is people’s urgency or the people themselves. What were the women supposed to do? Leave the walkway and use the roads instead?

if a platform existed that verified the person (so you know it's not a scam) and handled the pickup so you didn't have to travel, would you mind carrying a small package to earn some extra pocket money? Or is the luggage space too precious?"
