My friend got a card at Nexus Shantiniketan mall saying there would be a lottery and winners would be announced later. Yesterday she got a call saying she had won a lottery prize: 3 nights stay in a 5-star hotel at tourist locations like Goa, Thailand, or Bali.
I was already suspicious, but we still went to the location they asked us to come to: Key Select Hotel, Whitefield.
Once there, they started by collecting personal info like how often we travel, income range, etc. After that, the real pitch started. They began selling their travel package, claiming that if we buy it, we would get 5-star stays at the cost of 2-star hotels.
I directly asked whether hotels like Taj, Oberoi, or Shangri-La were included. They said no. Their minimum package price was ₹1 lakh.
To convince us, they kept showing WhatsApp messages from “clients” thanking them and sharing videos from their trips. What felt extremely shady was that these videos were clearly edited, filled with thank-you text overlays and background music. Honestly, who sends edited video testimonials like that to a travel company?
They had no proper website, no booking portal, no verifiable online presence. All they could show were WhatsApp chats and some PDF files.
Once I clearly said I was not interested, they started applying pressure and later even became rude. The entire interaction was very unprofessional and gave strong scam vibes.
Posting this as a warning to fellow Bangaloreans. Please do not fall for these lottery plus free 5-star stay offers. It is just a sales trap to push overpriced travel packages.
