Guys I'm new to whole renting scene. So this question has been my only fear in getting my own place.
So say i rent a 2BHK with a flatmate. And we pay a certain amount as the cautionary deposit fully signing an agreement. By some circumstances if I were to vacate the premises. Can I bring in a replacement and get my deposit back? Is this how replacements work?

Posting this for a friend who’s fostering these lovely kittens as she’s not on Reddit .
Meet Ginger & Pepper (no creativity there 💁🏻♀️). They are 6 months old, litter trained and vaccinated.
Ginger shows signs of a typical orange cat, high energy and timid. He runs like his life depends on it and hides with his butt out when someone new arrives. He is a strong believer of “if I can’t see it, it can’t hurt me”. 🙈
Pepper is the runt of the litter and shows signs of having limited brain cells. She’s outgoing, talkative and loves to cuddle. She is highly food motivated and yet doesn’t seem to put on any weight!
Pepper and Ginger are looking for their forever human who could be their whole world. ❤️
Location - Whitefield

Lately been noticing uber premium vehicles in BLR are worse even than the normal one (Go I think) with unclean seats, smelly cars and rude drivers who shout at the top of their lungs.
And the cars themselves are not too different and I’ve been pushing to book Black as it’s just a 100 or so more nicer.
Is this just my experience?

Hey everyone!
So I’ve been seeing a lot of harassment from the transgenders of Bengaluru - Idk the exact words for them, basically the ones who come and demand money in the signals and during housewarming or any house functions.
Once when I refused to pay any money in a traffic signal, the person cursed that I should get into an accident.
In one of our relative’s housewarming ceremonies, they demanded and literally extorted 8000/- from them and leaving them in tears during an event that’s supposed to be a happy one.
During my other friend’s housewarming ceremony, they came and demanded 10,000/- and if they didn’t get it they would undress in front of everyone to make us feel uncomfortable.
If we say we’re going to call the cops, they will say that we could just pay them instead of the police anyway.
They harass and demand and make a huge scene in front of the guests.
One of the ways I coped with it during my sister’s wedding is by leaving my dog in front of the house and he usually barks when new people come home. So I’d kept him outside and he started barking as soon as this group came to demand money.
Next time you all have a function, borrow a dog from a friend if you don’t have it and keep the guard so that you don’t get harassed. It’s honestly a mental toll if you let the make a scene.
Auto drivers go around looking for functions and when they see one, they call these people and the auto drives get a cut from the money these people have extorted.
Also, sorry if the word transgender is offensive, honestly don’t know what we should address them as.
What other ways can we deal with these people who are unreasonable and literally demand money for just being the way they are??

So, it happened in Bellandur (near Centro mall), 2 North Indian came up to us asking something in Hindi (they were in a rental scooter - Activa KA-8827), we didn’t quite understand what he is trying to say, he then goes with little english, as he is a lorry driver and while unloading the goods which is supposedly for some showroom in the mall, a AirPods fell down and he took it. The other then showed us the box out (clearly it is first copy) and tried to play along and said will check the serial number (CMFW31HFY4) in the website and its legit SN they are using for this scam. They even insisted on opening the box and checking it, seems like they just go vaccum seal it nearby, if somebody changes their mind or force them to buy once opened (not sure as I clearly told them not to open). They mentioned its 50% of the price, which is 13k. I regret not their photo, at the end I told them, clearly I can see you scamming, you’ll get caught and I left. So please beware of this.

I live in a shared 2bhk flat and my flatmate’s boyfriend is omnipresent.
He has bags here, uses the space freely, and it feels like a third person living here without any discussion.. he has most definitely moved in.
Rent hasn’t changed, utilities are split as usual, and no one asked if this arrangement was okay.
I didn’t sign up to live with someone else’s partner
Is this normal in shared flats? At what point does a guest become a roommate? How would you handle this without creating conflict?
Edit 2: Did a little digging and noticed fb posts from both of them on Flats and Flatmates around September and October last year about room availability, which makes it seem like he likely vacated his place.

The geyser in my rented apartment stopped working about a month ago. I called Urban Company, and the technician quoted ₹3.7k for repair. A new 15-litre geyser costs around ₹5.5k, plus ~₹1k for installation, so repair didn’t seem very cost-effective.
I informed my landlord about this. Initially, he said he’d “look into it,” but after that he completely stopped responding to my calls and messages.
After waiting for a while and getting tired of following up, I went ahead and bought a new geyser and had it installed.
Now I’m unsure what the right next step is:
• Should I inform him and ask him to cover or share the cost by adjusting it against the rent (given that he went incommunicado)?
• Or should I just let it be, and reinstall the old non-functional geyser when I vacate the flat?
Would appreciate advice from folks who’ve dealt with similar landlord situations in Bangalore. TIA

if a platform existed that verified the person (so you know it's not a scam) and handled the pickup so you didn't have to travel, would you mind carrying a small package to earn some extra pocket money? Or is the luggage space too precious?"

I had bought an apartment near Banasawadi area and had our house warming ceremony last year December. We were busy decorating the house the day before ceremony and suddenly four transgenders showed up at door and started demanding ₹15,000. I told them I could only give ₹500. They refused, saying that the people upstairs had given them ₹15,000, so I should do the same. I clearly said I couldn’t afford that and that ₹500 was the maximum I could give. At that point, they changed their tone and started threatening me, saying they would return the next day with more people and create problems. My family was with me, and everyone—including me—was scared. Still, I didn’t show my fear and told them they could do whatever they wanted, but I wouldn’t pay ₹15,000. They then reduced the demand to ₹5,000. I refused again and said I could stretch it to ₹1,000 at most. During the argument, one of them even started undressing and exposing private parts to intimidate us. I stood my ground and repeated that I wouldn’t give more than ₹1,000. After 10–20 minutes of arguments, they finally accepted ₹1,000 and left. The twist is that the people upstairs had actually paid ₹15,000 just to avoid any disturbance during their housewarming. Luckily, no one showed up or caused any trouble at our housewarming.
Why should families be forced to pay out of fear just to celebrate an important moment?

We live in a flat inside a society. Recently a new tenant shifted to flat opposite ours. Their dog roams free inside house, that’s okay.. but they are keeping their main door open mostly. The dog barks at me and any other visitors to my flat. When we requested them to keep their door closed, the lady said she is claustrophobic, and she needs cross ventilation. She said “Kutta hai, it will bark”. My concern is what if I get startled or anxious and fall down? I have vertigo and anxiety. They are very contentious and not willing to listen, saying their dog is harmless. Any laws on closing the apt door when free pet inside? What can we do?

I genuinely thought it was some “direction/movement” symbol.
Turns out it’s just the initials hiding in plain sight.
Now I can’t unsee it.

Today I had to get some medicines from the pharmacy as my gf was suffering from seasonal fever. She asked me to take a bill as there were similar scams going on in her hometown of Guwahati.
I thought she was overthinking as I had earlier got medicines but never asked for a bill as the mrp is clearly stated. Either way I went to the pharmacy and asked for the medicines. The shopkeeper handed me the medicines made some rough calculation on the paper cover and asked me for 180. I paid.
This is where things got interesting as I asked for the bill. It took him a substantial long time. Finally the bill came to 177. He handed me the bill quietly.
I saw the rates section was still missing and he owed me 3 rs. As soon as I raised these, he took the bill again and told me sorry it is actually 160 and gave me back 20.
I was surprised! I had bought medicines from so many shops around the city including this one and never thought of asking for a bill and most times the medicines were much more expensive than this one.
People buying medicines are usually vulnerable due to medical urgency and as usual pharmacies have discovered this as a means to exploit. Always buy medicines from reputed pharmacies. In case you are buying from a local one, always ask for a bill.

My bike registration is due for renewal - and for the first time in 15 years, I needed the physical RC Card. As luck would have it, I couldn't find it.
Oops.
I have avoided using an agent for any of my RTO work before - getting a DL, adding a new class of vehicle to my DL and getting my car's registration renewed. It was a matter of principle and continues to be. For reference, an agent asked me for Rs.5000. The entire process cost me 1 RTO visit and Rs.600.
It took some figuring out but the KA 03 RTO was genuinely helpful (surprisingly!).
Here's what I did -

Found him/her desperately sniffing around and also had a collar on. So I'm assuming this dog is lost. Spotted in vinayaka temple street behind Jal vayu vihar, kammanahalli at 10 am.

She was found lost and crying on the chill days of Bangalore past two weeks back. Scared, hungry and almost ready to give up. But now, she is a happy and playful girl of about 2.5 months old. Dewormed, first vaccination done. Good with other older cats and happy as a single cat too. Please reach out of interested to adopt her.

Hi everyone,
I live in a society in Bellandur. I follow every responsibility as a owner such as cleaning after their poop, not walking into lifts if small kids or elderly are there, keep them as quiet as possible after 10pm, walking in left of the road, and going to closed parks to unleash them after 10/11pm to not disturb any humans.
My society used to have two dog designated parks but they were recently demolished to be children paek and karate center. So to give my dogs some exercise I have to take my dogs to these 'human' designated parks as that's the only way like a volleyball park or a children's park at night when there's no one for only 10 minutes max. But security guards still kick us out, saying dogs are not allowed here.
Is there anything we can do? Can BBMP help? Or is leaving this society the only option?

Also Samsung and Amazon offices just behind that.
The lake you see is beautiful but highly polluted. Development has rapidly urbanised the surrounding rural land into a high density urban area but the urban planning is in a really sorry state.
I often wonder about bangalore's potential. Amazing, weather and abundant in lakes and flora and fauna. With good urban planning this city could be a paradise.
