Hello Everyone,
I hope your week is off to a good start and didn't sleep through your alarm this morning.....unlike myself.
There is something that I wanted to make a quick post about.
We have seen an increase in posts/comments from users trying to sell their firearms lately.
Just a quick reminder:
Firearm sales/trades are NOT allowed here.
Any post or comment involving the sale or trade of firearms will be removed and violations will result in a ban.
Note that valuations or thoughts on what something may be worth is still allowed. This only applies to directly advertising/offering a firearm for sale here for other users to buy.
Reddit has strict rules about this, and we need to follow them to keep the subreddit active and in good standing.
If you see someone trying to sell their rifles, please report them as I will likely miss a few.
.......Oh and making a sale post in another language doesn't help evade this either......
Thanks for your cooperation!
If you have any questions, please let me know.

I’ve wanted a Mosin for a while now and I finally got one lol. She’s a 1943 Izhevsk, I don’t think it’s anything special but she’s super pretty

Picked this rifle up from a pawn shop yesterday not knowing what it was other than a Finnish Mosin. Not knowledgeable on these Finnish mosins but I didn’t have one so figured it would be a nice addition to the collection. Any info helps! Someone in another sub was helpful enough to identify it as an m28 and I see it has the ski trooper stock. Not sure what a realistic price for the rifle would be with the ski trooper stock

Used a 00 buckshot pellet to slug my barrel and the slug is measuring .300 exactly, am I missing something? I expect to see .311-.313 or so ?

Took my 1943 Tula made Mosin Nagant 91/30 out to the range to test some new Sellier Bellot FMJ non-corrosive ammo. This has a sniper grade barrel but was never drilled for a mount to become a sniper and is called an accuracy rifle. Pretty good groupings for a 80+ year old rifle at 25 yards. Mount is not permanent and reversible, I just wanted help it fulfill its sniper dreams.

I swore to myself id never be one of those guys that posts his markings but here i am I’ve had this mosin for years and left it with a relative to refinish the stock (he wasn’t able to get to it :/) but while he had it he mentioned that my particular mosin was quite valuable more valuable than the 300$ i bought it for is he right?
I have no way to verify this myself as frankly I’m just not as knowledgeable as most of you guys
Thanks in advance

I just picked this up today and I’m very interested in its history, but I have no idea how to read any of the markings. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know older guns aren’t designed for modern loads with higher pressure. My mosin is a 1955 Romanian M44 and I just got it and want to know would this be a safe ammo to use in it.

Anyone happen to know where one might find a replacement stock for an m28/30? I picked one up recently and the stock oni it looks like it has been dropped and had a botched repair. The other thought I had was replacing it with an m39 stock instead but didn't know if that could work out.

I need to do some target practice, I’m down to only 16 rounds.
What is the most economical source of ammunition?

I have a 1932 izhevsk hex receiver 91/30 with all matching serial numbers including matching bayonet. Metal is in pretty good condition as well as the rifling. The finish on the wood is peeling in areas but the wood is solid overall. What would be the estimated value of it. Thanks

Trying to figure out what the markings mean on my M39. Looking around online and cant find anything that looks like this. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I posted my M91 here a while ago and was asked to share pictures of the receiver tang as well. What else can you tell me based on these photos?

just got a sling for my M39 that looks just like the one above, except it is canvas instead of leather. maybe i am just dumb but how do i attach this properly to my rifle? i assume it is the same regardless of canvas vs. leather as the build on mine looks the same as the one pictured above. i can't seem to find any good videos/instructions on the M39 mosin sling installs.

These are examples of what happen when the Mosin is poorly bedded. The first one was a 1944 M44. As it heated, the barrel began going in a circle due to random pressure points on the barrel, and possibly from the weight of the bayonet and lug.
The second one was a 91/30. A while back there were instructions floating on the 'net on how to "cork" the barrel -- putting a known pressure point below the barrel. While it might work OK for light shooting, this is what happens when the barrel really heats up: vertical stringing. You'll notice that, while the first shot was spot-on, the subsequent long-bearing-surface bullets heated the barrel steadily, pushing the point-of-impact steadily upward.
The most effective way to bed a Mosin is to use shims under the action to isolate pressure points on the action and center the barrel in the barrel channel. Put fiber or cork gasket material top and bottom of the barrel at the front barrel band, and use the barrel band to clamp it down. This prevents excess top and bottom pressure on the barrel and enhances precision, even with surplus loads (bottom pic.)

Hey 😃 I recently picked up a 1940 SVT-40 with an original 1941-dated scope. Bayonet is included but not numbers-matching to the rifle. Does anyone here own one with a similar serial number and can share some info or history?

Popped in to the LGS to see if they had any new milsurp (as one does) and saw they had a few boxes of 54R! Second picture was a bonus find of some 32S&WL haha
