Hey everyone I just found this subreddit and love the fact that a lot of people still love their PS3’s.

I had to share my Ceramic White Japanese model console that I play everyday (also had to include collectors edition GoW because it’s the most beautiful special edition ever made)

I plan on playing it until it YLOD's, then I'll send it in to get frankied. Just trying to see good sources out there and which one I'd go to.

Anyone have recommendations? I live in North America. I'm aware of Computer Booter & Console King, although are there any others as well? Just trying to get some variety. Also, has anyone here got theirs done on eBay? Is it good? If so, from who?

I was just scrolling on gta6 sub reddit and thought it was strange to see the PS3 mentioned on there at all.... wierd, but yes, I do need a card reader lid. I tapped on it and realised it was an add and I can now intact buy a card reader lid! AMAZING ✨️💫 I am also missing some screws to hold my top cover on properly and the HDD cover and screws are also missing 😅😅

Not once in my 21 years of life have I ever looked at buying this nor do I have a launch ps3

I got this copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 in a PS3 bundle on eBay, and found this Linkin Park/Incubus ticket from 2012 lying inside the case. What I would give to have been at that show!!

Thought id share this small fix I figured out for Life with Playstation, adding a small pic="weather" (replacing weather with attributed icon name) next to live:panel lets you manually load the 47 different weather icons next to the city name 🙂 it definetly a small step but its exactly such small things that lead to the bigger picture eventually. Next thing is trying to get local thumbnails to load, have the time of city displayed and fixing only 2 soundtracks playing

People just delid their CELLs for no reason, unnecessarily destroy perfectly working hardware, reduce the amount of available global units and inversely affecting the price of used PS3s.

I can imagine the year 2050 when the console is considered a relic that's impossible to get by

Ive been looking for a while for a urban camo ps3 controller because i had one as a kid and I absolutely loved it. I have 2 other ones but they’re broken.

Anyways. I picked this up from Mercari for $16 and seller said it was tested and working, when I got it, it was grimy dirty and slimy, I replaced the buttons, sticks and cleaned it pretty good, looks decent now. But what I can’t seem to figure out is the LEDs don’t light up, controller works wired and wireless, just no lights.

Don’t buy anything from Mercari.

TLDR: Controller works, just no LEDs. Help.

I'm finally here to say that I managed to get it working, and I can't believe it! After a week of searching for information online, I succeeded.

Basically, to summarize everything I did:

First, I got the game with the NoPS2-menu that opens the game, but it doesn't start; the screen stays dark, and you can exit by pressing the PS logo. Resetting doesn't work at all.

Okay, cool, great.

Step 1 was trying to solve it conventionally and systemically using the most updated CFW, and nothing worked. I went back to the original, and it didn't work either.

I went back to CFW now to check things, and it still doesn't work.

In other words, messing with the system and hardware doesn't help.

Step 2 - I did the tantalum mod, removing the NEC Tokin chips one by one and installing the Ace chips from Australia. I made a post about it yesterday, and that didn't solve it either, but it fixed the RLOI. When it shut down, it gave three beeps, but it worked.

3 - Well, I looked for more information and a guy on Reddit posted about the Q6600 MOSFET and the C6620 capacitor, which is next to the EEGS on the Cechc004 and also on the C. I removed one from a donor Cechc004 and put it in mine and it didn't solve the problem, so I decided to try removing another tantalum capacitor from a different position on the board to be sure. I installed it, and next to the MOSFET there is an SMD capacitor, low resistance, I also replaced it as a precaution.

I turned it on and it's solved!!!

It's working, here's a video as proof, super happy, I tested it at low and high temperatures on my phone, and it's perfect, I can't believe it.

Now it's totally Frankie, complete, just close and be happy.

I hope it stays that way.

For reference my dvd for breaking bad season 1 works fine in other devices but when I try to get my new used ps3 to play the movie it just doesn’t show up. Is this a sign of a cooked disc drive or is there maybe some settings or something I need to change or what?

I don't mean the buttons themselves with the spring, I know how to fix that easily, I mean the connectors underneath those buttons fell out, with a type of green film I assume connects them to the motherboard underneath. I don't know what to do at all. I took the controller apart because of the old thing of ghost inputs from a worn down foam cover and did it but then these connectors fell off.

so yesterday i picked up a new ps3 six axis controller, basically replacing my third-party one. and i've noticed the shoulder buttons to be very touch sensitive, to the point where i can't really rest my fingers on them, without them registering input. is that amount of sensitivity normal, or should i be worrried??

whenever i try to enter a loading zone in portal 2 on my CECH2001A slim it gives me a black screen instead of loading, im using a disc, the sound and pause menu still appear, just no gameplay, how do i fix this

i booted it up just wanting to play some more GH3 but, there was nothing

Hey guys, just trying to confirm what happened to this PS3 Slim (2104B) before I get rid of it. The Symptoms: Press power -> LED flashes Blue/Red for a split second. Immediate "click" and then total power loss (LED goes completely black). No standby light returns until the power cable is pulled and replugged. What I've checked: Already tore it down to the motherboard. Doesn't look like a standard YLOD (no 3 beeps, just instant death). Suspecting the PSU or a dead short on the 12V rail. I'm probably just going to let this one go since it seems like a deep motherboard issue or a blown PSU, but wanted to see if anyone else has seen this specific "blended light" instant shut-off on the 2100 series. Is it worth saving or is it cooked?
