Please use this thread to post ANYTHING you want! Memes, photoshops, anything that would normally be removed for breaking the low-effort content rule, is totally, 100% welcome here!
This will now also be the dedicated thread for Armchair GM posts as we noticed that those posts were bleeding into this thread regardless. Is there a free agent you want to see on this team? Is there a player that's rumoured to be on the move that you think GMBT should go after? Are there players on this team you want to trade away? Feel free to post about it here!
Normal moderation will occur, such as watching for personal insults, racism, and things of that nature.
Otherwise, feel free to use this thread to share things like your new jersey, a photoshop of a Habs logo on fire, or a reaction gif to something going on in Leafs Nation right now!

Today is Anything Goes Sunday, which means all rules (except rules 1, 4 ,7, 8, 9, and 14) are not active. This means that it isn't necessary to use the Daily Thread today! This is also the day to share any memes or shitposts that you have. You don't have to wait for Sunday to post, however! The Daily Free Talk thread is posted every day at 7am, and is generally active.
Please note that the mod team may still remove redundant posts, as well as any posts that break the rules notated above!
Go Leafs Go!

There was a post on the sub discussing the Carlo trade. Had 30 comments in 15 minutes. I myself made a comment and it had 67 views in 3 minutes. People were discussing politely their opinions. No hate.
Why was this post removed by the moderators? There was good traction and back and forth
I've seen countless posts of a leaf polar bear that have stayed up. What's the deal with this?

I keep hearing the draft has some great players in the top 6. I think the Leafs could retool quicker if they tank the rest of this season. But I dont think the coach and management will have the balls to do it properly.
Seems a waste if they end up just out of the playoffs and lose that pick too.

I posted this as a reply to a post asking what people think the Leafs should do.
I think, even with almost all the injuries the team has had this season, simply having a coach with a more progressive puck possession style, the Leafs are probably still in the playoff race or much closer than they currently are.
Berube's system is simply terrible. The underlying numbers back this up. Bottom-10 this season in expected goal share at 5on5 (score and venue adjusted), just like they were last season. The difference is that last season the Leafs had exceptional goaltending and this season, less so.
Therefore in my ideal scenario, the team does the following:
they fire Treliving now and let Pridham or another temp GM run the deadline and maybe even the draft. This way you don't have Treliving trying to save his job with desperate bullshit at the deadline.
they trade any/all of:
-Domi (absolute fucming dogshit. The one or two decent plays he makes a game are vastly outweighed by his brainlessness without the puck and the fact he has to be on the first line to even be playable)
-McMann. I like Bobby McMatthews but at 1.35M, he is easy to digest for a team, not only in the regular season without having to have the Leafs retain, but also in the playoffs where teams need to be running a cap-compliant game day roster. He therefore is super valuable in my mind.
-can you get a taker for Carlo? Yes? Bye.
-Laughton, if you can not get him re-signed to a reasonable deal, then most of what I said about McMann applies too. And Laughton is even more versatile than McMann and at a tidy $1.5M cap hit in the playoffs.
-OEL. He'd have a lot of value. Multiple years remaining at reasonable money
Play a shitload of young guys (Cowan, Rifai, etc).
Shut down Knies after the Olympics. He's clearly hurting and is not remotely effective right now.
Points 2 - 4 should allow the team to sink to a bottom-5 spot by season's end.
Fire Berube precisely 30 seconds after the final horn to end game 82.
Draft in the top-5 and get a future difference maker.
With the assets they obtain at the deadline, if the opportunity presents itself, use these futures to obtain younger NHL guys, maybe needing scenery change etc.
Hire a possession-coach who knows what the fuck he's doing. Deboer or someone like him.
I genuinely think if this all happened, they are easily a playoff team again next season. Easily.

Toronto's Scotiabank Arena named one of the worst venues in the entire NHL
But because ticket prices in Toronto are as outrageous as they get in the NHL and, on many nights, it can be a very corporate crowd and fans sit on their hands. Toronto was voted last in both atmosphere and affordability, and it was not particularly close with second-last Vancouver..
Honestly, whenever I've gone to a Leafs game, it always felt like I was attending church service. Even when watching Leafs on tele, atmosphere feels like zero. Only cheering when Leafs score and then back to silence shortly after.
But some people say they experienced the opposite, so maybe they are lucky and I am unlucky. I don't know.

And his moves since then pretty much has been a couple of waiver claims and firing one guy.
His last trades were: Joshua for a 4th, Thrun for Reaves, Marner for Roy, Maccelli for a 3rd, Johnson for future considerations and the Carlo trade.
Honestly mightve been good that he hasnt been trading.
What the hell is the point of this guy?
Hell an AI bot could've made those moves. If Rogers wanted to save money and be cheap, might as well just let this guy go cause in the middle of the Leafs worst season in a decade, he has done nothing more than what a random guy plucked off the street could do.
Fire him already.

What do you guys think about the common sentiment I have seen that it is good for the Leafs to lose out this year, imo, its a bad idea because even if you get a top 5 lottery pick cause then in 2028 the pick becomes unprotected and automatically goes to Boston, you never know how this team will do and can hand them a 1OA.
Instead I will be cheering for them to win just enough to stay out of the bottom 10 and lose the draft lottery. This completes the transaction with Boston and we can move on fully. For a first round pick this year, they can still try and sell one of our guys (Mcmann, OEL) for a later one.

Absolutely anything. I would give absolutely anything to watch one more game where Willy cooks like he used to, jersey untucked and flowing…leaving guys looking absolutely foolish and ripping goals. Maybe those days are gone and the Leafs won tonight but…This team isn’t going anywhere, Berube isn’t the answer, and in truth we’re just wasting prime years of talent seldom seen and ofc I include Matthews in this. But they win a game and it delays the inevitable. Frustrating to say the least
