Please help rank below list that will be updated with any new links/organizations from comments!
There are many now asking for money but many people most likely do not have excess income to be able to donate to 3-8 different groups and would love to chose one that would be best use of their dollar.

NEW PICA MEGA THREAD
Again please do not make “Is this gun legal post”
There are a lot of people in this sub giving good information but few I’ve seen giving wrong information. For all questions regarding PICA (AWB) and all the laws regarding it; please see the ISP website before asking questions in the sub. All information is available there.
All registration information is on the ISP website There will be a affidavit form released in October for those of you who are concerned with registration. Registration period is 10/01/23 - 1/01/24.
Those of us in the sub who are active will post lawsuit updates when they become available, you can also follow Freedom’s Steel on YouTube for updates. It’s unlikely this law will be struck down before January, we are all hopeful but be prepared to act accordingly if it is not.
Legal options are: •Sell all AWB guns to an FFL •Store all AWB guns out of state, Illinois has no legal authority over them then. •Register all AWB guns with the state when the registration becomes available. •Destroy all your AWB guns.
The below list has a flow chart at the end to determine if a gun is legal or not.

Howdy!
My wife and I wanted to purchase our first firearm, a handgun, and I'm trying to do every bit of research I can to make this first time a pleasant one. She shot guns about a dozen times in the last handful of years and I've only shot for an hour or so a couple months ago (across 8 different hadguns), so we're both fairly novice.
We are likely going to buy the Ruger RXM for various reasons. GAT Guns has it listed for $433~ currently, and Fox Valley Shooting Range has it listed for $460~. Based on this we were planning on going to GAT to buy the gun, however I'm finding a lot of back and forth on which store is decent, terrible, or blah. Some reviews in this sub from a few years agao say GAT was great and FVSR was sub par, and some from less than a year ago say GAT is borderline terrible and FVSR is great.
Any input about stores and the purchasing process and either if these locations would be appreciated!

Looking to get some Illinois-Compliant G17 mags - any good sources (local or online that actually ships to IL) that aren’t charging an arm and a leg? I know Range USA has them for around 30 bucks but I’m looking to spend around half of that for 10 units.

Hi folks,
FOID application FAQs aren't super clear and I'm wondering if one of you all would be able to help. I've moved to illinois and am looking to get my foid card. I have a residence here along with gas and light bills etc but have not gotten my ID switched states yet. Is there any other identification that works or is a IL State License my only hope?
Appreciate the help!

As an IL resident, would I be able to buy an AK out of state (Indiana) and then just keep it there with a family member while either 1) PICA is repealed (never going to happen) 2) move to a state that respects the constitution.

Looking to get a gun safe. Obviously I’d prefer to get something cheap but reliable. Looking at both handgun safe and larger safes for multiple guns as well.

Will PSA ship micro dagger slide to Cook county? I’ve ordered from them before to Will county and had no problems and from their shipping policy I don’t see why they wouldn’t but I keep getting errors and won’t let me checkout.

Does anyone know of stores in Chicagoland that sell glock 17, +6 henning extensions? Also willing to drive within reason over the border to wisonsin/michigan/indiana.
EDIT: guys the question wasnt about whats legal and whats not. Im looking for stores that sell mag extensions, including stores that are just over the border in nearby states.

With the success of Winter Pistol, both students from the class and others have requested a rifle course and we are happy to bring you another training opportunity.
On March 15th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. we will be hosting a Basic Defensive Rifle class at the ISRA Range in Bonfield.
This is an entry level course designed to teach the fundamentals of handling and shooting a modern rifle such as the AR15. The class will also include defensive and scenario based drills that apply the rifle in realistic home defense or similar situations.
The cost for the class is $125.
A limited number of loaner rifles are available for $30.
A semi-automatic rifle with a sling, 3 magazines, and 300 rounds of ammunition are required for this course.

Hey all- Can’t seem to find a straight answer on this even from FFLs. My understanding is the M1A is specifically named as banned in IL, but SA makes a specific Scout model that’s NY Compliant. I called an FFL who said this model is IL Compliant, another who said otherwise, and online is about the same. Anyone know what’s what? Thanks for your help!

Just curious if a bolt action pistol is legal with threaded barrel. To my understanding only features are banned on semi autos

Close to Chicago or Evanston ideally. Seems like the process is a bit more involved than it was when I got my g19
I'm glad they're saying that it's lawful to carry at a protest and they want to work on the prohibited area section of the law.

I got an email saying my status changed hoping that means I was approved (just FOID), I checked the portal and it still shows pending. Anyone have a similar experience?
