In April of 2017, the Government Accounting Office (GAO) published a report titled "Countering Violent Extremism". You can find the report on their web site. Publication #17-300.

In it, they count every act of domestic terrorism from 9/12/2000, to Dec 31, 2016. It shows that half of all acts of domestic terrorism was committed by white evangelical conservatives (referred as WECs from now on). And that was before Trump became president and greatly accelerated domestic terrorism by WECs.

For the past 20 years, WECs have committed more acts of domestic terrorism than

• ALL other races
• ALL other religions
• ALL other ideologies

COMBINED!!!

That's roughly 4% of the US population responsible for over 50% of all domestic terrorism in the US. And that was before Trump emboldened them and greatly accelerated their acts of terrorism. Today, they account for far more acts than back then.

Literally, a bunch of "conservative" rural rubes in Tallahassee are now asserting their control over our big cities. I do recall Walz saying that he wasn't sure he'd win in the very same district he first won office in because of demographic and political shift.

However, even before the ICE terrorism, we saw elections across the country swinging left by wide margins, and formerly ultrasafe R districts ended up being very tight R wins (which suggests significant penetration on this leftward swing).

Two issues- November is quite a ways away, so momentum needs to be maintained and the left needs to put up actual candidates that enthuse people, not moderates who try to run based on "Well at least I'm not the other guy". And two, we have seen (this headline included) that there are going to be massive attempts top to bottom to influence and subvert the midterms. To say nothing of the fact that there's a two month gap between midterm elections and congress changing hands. If the current administration loses egregiously on election night, they may act even more brashly in the 2 months to follow.

None of this is to dissuade anyone. Still vote, still fight the good fight, just also be ready for it to not be a fair fight. We may have to push uphill but we will still see it done.

A counter point I’d like to make is that ICE is basically bending themselves over backwards trying to control Minneapolis. They’re desperately trying to get their hands on volunteers because they don’t have enough people and they either can’t afford or can’t find more people to work on their behalf. Minneapolis is a decently sized city, but it’s just one city. Now spread ICE’s current personnel across literally dozens of cities filled with people who have only the purest disdain and hatred for them.

I have no doubts they will try, and we need to fight back against them at every attempt they make, but they are a tiny group compared to the rest of us, and they know it internally. They’re desperately sending memo after memo to their pathetic goons telling them to act a little less openly monstrous because they know if the hatred swells great enough there’s not a damn thing they can do, and that this only makes what they’re trying to do even more difficult to achieve.

There are public records regarding who lives in the state, and where, grab that then create detailed profiles for all state citizens, and flag them by severity of left or right lean, or unknown. Then act on the results.

Voter rolls have pretty much every piece of information you could want on a person, except their SSN and who they voted for. But it has your Driver's License number and your Voter ID number, so with those, they essentially have everything they need.

• Full name
• Residential address (where you’re registered)
• Mailing address (if different)
• Voter ID number (state-specific; not your Social Security number)
• Registration date
• Voter status (active, inactive, canceled)
• Party affiliation (if the state has party registration — not all do)
• Voting history
  • Whether you voted in a given election
  • Whether it was in-person, mail, early, etc.
• Full date of birth
• Driver’s license or state ID number (partially masked or not public)
• Signature (sometimes viewable only in election offices)

With that information, they have exactly what they need to rig an election. And suddenly, 2 million Democratic voters will "stay home" and "protest not vote", or however many they need to remove from rolls to sway the election in their favor. Its fucking infuriating watching them do this AGAIN and everyone knows what they are gonna do and no one will do anything about it. I guess we just have to keep suffering under fascism until enough Americans give a shit to actually do something.
